Just finished reading Henry Darrow's biography and I can say enough good about it. An in depth look at a fascinating life; a man who rode through tumultuous times to change with them, evolve and become better than he was.
I love the west, live here, and have published western novels. I can say The High Chaparral was the best of the best. Henry Darrow: Lightning In The Bottle is a page turner, filled with the bubbling enthusiasm of his life and at the same time letting the reader in on what was going on in Hollywood and the social changes happening in the country during the 60's and beyond. I've admired Mr.
Darrow as a performer for many years and this biography was a treat to read.
Filled with wonderful photos of his career, great stories, and the accomplishments of a great performer. If you enjoy a good read, don't pass this one up. Feb 19, Grady rated it really liked it.

It is written with a terrific light-hearted wit, with numerous inclusions of comment and brief essays by famous show business people, a rich collection of photographs of the lead character over his course in the industry, and a sense of honesty that makes this biography a step above the others of similar content. He had good looks, intelligence, talent, a certain cachet and a mother who promoted him relentlessly.
Darrow became a fine actor he is still remembered for his skill at The Pasadena Playhouse , a sex symbol, the irrepressible character Manolito Montoya in the television favorite western The High Chaparral , and would go on to be a favorite in many television series such as Zorro and movies.welgoodwprescal.tk

Well written, copiously documented, and full of memorabilia, this book is a fine addition to the history of television, cinema, and Latino actors emerging to the major roles on film. I was delighted to find that Lightning in the Bottle is a well written book that describes the career of Mr.
Darrow, who was one of the first Hispanic actors to have a major role on a TV series. Anyone who has a passion for acting should find this fascinating reading.

I have not been an active TV watcher since high school, so I was surprised to find out how many TV series he either was a regular or was a guest on. Darrow has worked with a huge number of actors in his career. Always a professional in work, his personal life did suffer quite a bit from philandering and drinking, mostly tragically with his alienation from his children.
